When you receive NDIS supports, you have important rights that protect your safety, dignity and independence. At Rainbow Disability Services, we make sure you understand these rights and feel confident to use them in everyday life.

You have the right to be treated with respect, to make informed choices, to feel safe and free from violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation or discrimination. You also have the right to services that respect your culture, language, values and beliefs, and to supports that help you be as independent as possible.

How Rainbow Disability Services Protects Your Rights

We follow the NDIS Act, the NDIS Practice Standards and key human rights conventions to guide all our work with participants and families. This means we build our policies around human rights, strong governance, quality management and continuous improvement.

Our staff are trained in privacy, dignity, safe practice and the NDIS Code of Conduct so they can provide supports in a safe and competent way. We also use clear Service Agreements and Support Plans so you know what to expect, how your supports will be delivered and what to do if something needs to change.

Having a Voice: Feedback, Complaints and Advocates

Speaking up is a key part of your NDIS rights, and we actively encourage you to share feedback—positive or negative—about your services. You can talk to staff, contact our office, complete a feedback form, respond to satisfaction surveys or even give feedback anonymously if you prefer.

If you are unhappy with any part of your service, you can make a complaint without fear of retaliation, and we will investigate, respond in writing and work with you on a fair resolution. If you are still not satisfied, we will support you to contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission to take your complaint further.

You can also choose to have an independent advocate—such as a family member, friend or advocacy service—who speaks up for you and helps you make decisions. We can help you find an advocacy service, involve your advocate in meetings and share information with them when you give your consent.

Privacy, Consent and Feeling Safe

Your personal information belongs to you, and we protect it carefully under Australian Privacy Principles and NDIS rules. We only collect information that is necessary for safe, effective service delivery, explain why we need it and use it only for that purpose.

We always ask for your consent before sharing information with other services or support people unless there is an emergency or a legal requirement to disclose. You can change your consent at any time and request access to, or corrections of, the information we hold about you.

Rainbow Disability Services maintains a Zero Tolerance approach to abuse, neglect, violence, exploitation and discrimination, and we act quickly if there is any concern or incident. Serious incidents are reported to the NDIS Commission and other authorities as required, and we use what we learn to further strengthen safety for all participants.

We Are Here to Stand Beside You

Knowing your rights and having supportive people around you can transform your NDIS experience. At Rainbow Disability Services, we see it as our responsibility to listen, explain, protect and advocate alongside you so that you can focus on your goals and the life you want to live.

If you would like help understanding your NDIS rights, finding an advocate or raising a concern, our team is ready to support you—simply call us or speak to any staff member.
